Second Grade News...

Thrasher second graders have begun the process of becoming authors! Sloppy copies are starting! Be sure that you are completing each assigned section on time.

DATES:

READING :

We will read a fiction & nonfiction story this week. The fairy tale is called Little Grunt & the Big Egg. The nonfiction story is about dinosaurs.This week will be a review of skills.

MATH:

Please continue to study addition and subtraction facts, telling time on a regular clock, and counting money. Unit 8 will be starting for most & we will begin to work with fractions.


SPELLING : review of /r/ controlled, long/o/, & nd,nk,ng

We will not be testing the review words this week.

       
       
       
       

REMINDERS:

  • Please be sure to sign agenda mates each day. Check for any information being sent home, especially on Sunday night before coming back on Monday.
  • It has turned cold. Students must have a coat to go to recess. Also remember to wear tennis shoes.


We are writing letters all year. If you would like to write a letter to your child, please use the address listed below. Place it in the mailbox in the second grade hallway.

Second Grade Supply List for 2007-2008

It is with great joy that we welcome you to Second Grade where the love of learning is second nature. It is going to be a wonderful year! Please purchase and label the following supplies with a permanent marker. You may drop them off during registration or send them to school with your child on the first day of school.

2 regular boxes of tissues
1 small school box, no larger than 5x8 inches
5 # 2 pencils
5 dry erase markers and 1 eraser (an old sock works well)
1 scissors, Fiskars brand recommended
1 4 oz Elmer’s glue- larger sizes are too big for their hands
4 glue sticks
1 small box of regular washable crayola markers
1 small box of washable thin Crayola markers
1 small box of colored pencils
1 mall set of Prang Professional semi moist watercolors (8 colors) with paint brush
1 box of Cray-pas Junior Artist oil pastels (yellow box)
1 24 count box of crayons
1 pack of standard post it notes (3x3)
1 scribble pad – blank pad of newsprint or white paper (any size)
1 package of notebook paper (wide rule)
1 package of index cards
1 small pencil sharpener

Boys
1 container of Wet Wipes

Girls
2 rolls of paper towels
